Belo Horizonte (also known simply as BH) is the capital of Minas Gerais, a state in south eastern Brazil.

When should you visit?

The best time of the year to visit Belo Horizonte is April. In April the days are sunny and the temperature is around 23°C.

What can you do in Belo Horizonte?

If you like gastronomy, you’re in the right place!  Visit the cosmopolitan streets of the Savassi neighborhood and try Pastel and Pão de queijo (cheese bread), or eat in one of the many restaurants in Lourdes. Go to one of our Butecos (bars) and try a special dish with a local beer (FACT: BH is known as the World Bar Capital). Lose yourself at Mercado Central on a Saturday morning, the famous market where you can find delicious fruits, foods and souvenirs.

Go for a walk at Av. Afonso Pena on a Sunday morning and enjoy the Hype Fair. If you get a chance, watch a soccer game on a Sunday afternoon and feel the passion we have for our teams. If you like art, visit the Inhotim, a beautiful contemporary museum located 60 km from BH.

Spend a day in Ouro Preto, a historic city and World Heritage Site by Unesco, located 100 km from BH. See the sunset at Praça do Papa (Pope’s Square) and understand why the city is called Belo Horizonte (beautiful horizon).
